It’s been a busy month on a number of fronts. I did another test knit last week and will post more once the pattern in released. I also had a few projects that needed to be finished – a couple for raffle prizes for some benefits I will attending in the next couple of weeks. And, one ninja cowl for my friend’s son that needs to get in the mail before the cold weather blows in (which it might be doing outside as I type). But, of course, being a knitter I also cast on a new project for a September KAL. I blame it on Ravelry and my large stash of rummage sale yarn.
The KAL is for Heather Anderson’s Turtle Journey patterns – I’m doing the shawl but there is also a cowl, a hat and a blanket. I have to say the blanket is amazing! The blanket and the shawl really highlight the turtle pattern the best. I feel like you might lose it a little in the cowl and the hat. In my last rummage sale haul there were about 10 skeins of Blue Sky Alpaca in a grey color and so I decided to use that for this project. The KAL runs the month of September so I clearly won’t finish but still decided to join in. I just finished the “sand” section and will start the turtles rows next. It finishes with an applied border and I’ve never done an applied border before so that should be fun!
The turtles reminded me of my trip to Hawaii last year where we saw so many giant sea turtles! I thought it would be fun to have a little knitted reminder of the trip, which reminds me I have some yarn I bought there… No, no, I’m going to focus!!!
